About Me
Basic Info
Hello! My name is Ms. Hali Coppin. I am your child’s 4th grade teacher for the 2023-2024 school year! This will be my 9th year teaching, and my 7th year at Jefferson School. For my first two years, I taught 5th grade in the Bronx, New York. I am very excited to collaborate and work together to make this a successful and exciting one for your child!
Childhood
I grew up in Sacramento, where I attended Cordova Gardens Elementary School and Placer Elementary School until 8th grade. I graduated from Del Oro High School in 2006. Throughout my childhood I played many sports such as gymnastics, basketball, softball, and golf.
In 2010, I graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Physical Therapy from Fresno State. After graduating, from 2011-2013, I taught English in Azerbaijan through the Peace Corps. It was there, where I decided to pursue the teaching profession.Â
Education and Experience
Once I returned from the Peace Corps, I enrolled in a master’s program in New York. In May, I graduated from Manhattanville College earning a dual master’s in Childhood Education and Special Education with honors. I was also awarded the Dean’s Award for Innovative Teaching. Upon graduating and completing my second year of teaching public school in the Bronx, I moved back to my hometown, where I am now excited to start my 4th year here at Jefferson School.
