Voluntary Transfer and Reassignment
“No later than March 15 all bargaining unit members shall submit to the Office of the Chief Academic Officer (the CAO’s Office) the voluntary transfer/reassignment preference form…” Transfers/Reassignments will begin after March 15, 2021.
Voluntary Transfer and Reassignment: Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Read the following:
- Voluntary Transfer and Reassignment email sent to you on February 26, 2021 from Human Resources
- Article XI – Transfer and Reassignment
- Article XIX – Dependent Charter School (as related to transferring to or from a district dependent charted school)
- Education Code 35036
2. Review the 2021-22 Known Vacancies webpage as necessary.
3. Complete the Voluntary Transfer and Reassignment Forms (Part 1 and Part 2) and submit by 11:59 p.m. Monday, March 15, 2021.

a. Name: Type your First Name, Last Name, and Natomas Unified email address
b. School name: Select your current work location
c. Current Grade Level
d. Current Subject Area
e. Preference: In order of Transfer/Reassignment preference, select School Type, School Name, and Subject Area/Grade Level, click the blue plus sign to add additional preferences, click the red minus sign to remove self-selected preferences
f. Click “save and continue later” or “submit” (you can only click submit one time and you must click submit to transmit your self-selected preferences to the CAO’s Office.)
g. A confirmation indicating your self-selected preferences will be submitted to the CAO’s Office and emailed to you
h. Submit Part 1 no later than 11:59 p.m. on Monday, March 15, 2021

e. Complete questions 1 – 4: Type responses to questions
f. Click submit (you can only click submit one time and you must click submit to transmit your responses to the CAO’s Office)
g. A confirmation and copy of your responses will be submitted to the CAO’s Office and emailed to you
h. Submit Part 2 no later than 11:59 p.m. on Monday, March 15, 2021

If you requested a transfer and/or reassignment, “The Superintendent or administrative designee, with site principals, will make all decisions on voluntary transfers/reassignments from the information provided on the Voluntary Transfer/Reassignment Preference Form, based on the criteria B.1. Interviews will be arranged as necessary.” Interviews will be scheduled between March 16 and April 15. You will be contacted by email with an interview time if needed. After April 15, per Education Code 35036, external candidates will be considered.
If your Voluntary Transfer/Reassignment request is granted, you will be notified by the CAO’s Office. In alignment with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, Article XI – Transfer and Reassignment, “Meetings will be arranged so that unit members can meet the new site administrators.”
As interviews are completed and transfers granted, new vacancies will occur. Please check the Known Vacancies webpage regularly. The CAO’s Office will continue to use your Voluntary Transfer/Reassignment Preference Form to determine your interest in these new vacancies.
