The newest edition to the Natomas Unified School District Board of Trustees is passionate about history and dedicated to becoming a middle school history teacher. Valerie Smalls, a student at Discovery High School, was sworn in on August 28th as a Student Trustee for the 2019-20 school year. We look forward to Valerie and the unique student perspective that she will bring as the newest member of the Board of Trustees.
Valerie has already gotten a jumpstart on making her dream of being a teacher come true. During the summer, she enrolled at American River College and completed two courses for college credit. When she’s not studying, she enjoys doing volunteer work and spending time with her family. Welcome aboard!
