PARENTS AND STAFF:
- If you are concerned about your child or student’s social-emotional well-being, please fill out the referral form.
- Staff and parents can also make a self-referral to obtain mental health referrals and support.

*These services are at no cost to families and available to all NUSD students.
Who Provides Support
In NUSD, we have specially trained, committed and caring staff at each school site who provide a variety of social-emotional supports. These teams include:
- School Social Workers (at all sites)
- School Psychologists (at all sites)
- School Counselors (at secondary sites)
How to Access Support
Site-Based Referrals: Contact your/your child’s school or teacher to be connected with the School Social Worker or Psychologist.
District Referral: Complete a Social Emotional Support Referral form (above).
Confidential Teen Line
Teen Line is a confidential hotline for teenagers which operates every evening from 6:00pm to 10:00pm. If you have a problem or just want to talk with another teen who understands, then this is the right place for you! You can call us at 800-TLC-TEEN (852-8336) or text us by texting “TEEN” to 839863.
McKinney Vento
Site social workers, in collaboration with the Foster/Homeless Liaison, provide services and support to students who are considered foster youth and/or unhoused under the McKinney Vento Act. Social Workers provide referrals, direct services and case management support to reduce barriers and improve academic engagement and achievement of foster and unhoused students.
