Assistant Principal Corner

Welcome back to another wonderful year here at Jefferson School!

Hello,

I am Renald Edwards and it is an honor to serve as Jefferson’s Assistant Principal for the 23-24 school year. My job is to help cultivate an inclusive learning environment, where students value learning, collaboration, and community. I truly believe that with hard work, dedication, and teamwork anything is possible.

I was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. I am a husband and father of four amazing children. I graduated from Holy Names University with a Bachelor in Liberal Arts, then went on to graduate with my Master of Education. I would then go on to get my Administrative Credential from Sacramento State. I have an extensive background working in education; beginning as a tutor, working as an instructional assistant, mental health counselor, and then becoming a teacher. As a teacher, I have extensive experience teaching advanced courses such as AP and IB literature; however every step of my journey has prepared me to be successful next and each step has helped to be a better educator.

I am excited for our 2023-2024 school year here at Jefferson!  Academic excellence is our goal at Jefferson. We are unlocking student’s potential and getting them college and career ready. Our IB PYP philosophy is cultivating global minded students who will be ready to take on the future and meet the challenges of an ever changing world. Our middle school is preparing our students to succeed in high school and beyond, by empowering them and emphasizing college and career readiness. Our curriculum is designed to prepare students to succeed in Pre-AP and AP courses at Natomas High which are aligning them with the AP Capstone program and IB diploma and CECA courses at Inderkum High School. At Jefferson, we practice Restorative Justice and Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) as a way to repair harm, teach accountability, and improve student’s sense of well being. It’s going to be an amazing year at Jefferson. I welcome you to be a part of the amazing community we’re building! I’ll end with a line from our school chant…

I don’t know what you been told

Jefferson is an awesome school

I work real hard to get good grades

Learning is our goal each day.

Be Safe, Be productive, Be Kind!

Sincerely,

Renald Edwards
