UPDATES:

Excused Absences:
F- School Activity: Used when a student is participating in a field trip or other planned school function
K- Saturday School: Used when a student is attending Saturday School
W- Vaccinations: Used when a student misses school as a result of not having the required vaccinations
E- Excused Absence: Used when a student misses school because of an illness or other legal reason (death/funeral, medical issue, medical appointment). Board Policy states a parent/guardian can excuse their student’s absence for 14 days without a doctor’s note. After 14 days with no note, the code for Unexcused Absence is used.
EM – Excused Medical: Should be used every time an absence is accompanied by a doctor’s note.
D- Excused Tardy: Used when the student has been out of class/school with a verifiable reason (doctor’s note, meeting with school site staff)
O-Detained in Office: Used when student is meeting with site office staff (principal, nurse’s office, counselor, etc.)
ISC – Independent Study (complete; work came back in): Attendance status is updated from “ISN” to an “ISC” when an independent study student (who has a contract) returns completed work that was assigned
HHC – Home Hospital (complete; work came in): Attendance status is updated from “HHN” to “HHC” when a Home Hospital (who has a contract) student completes work that was assigned
ED- Early Dismissal: Used when student leaves school early with a verifiable reason (medical or personal)
EC- Emergency Conditions: to be used only when authorized by District
Unexcused:
C- Cut: Student intentionally missed class
V-Unverified: No response from responsible guardian about absence of student
U- Unexcused Absence: Used when other than a legal reason, as defined by Ed. Code, is given for student absence (family vacation, car problems)
ISN- Independent Study (not complete; work going out): Attendance status is an “ISN” when an Independent Study student (who has a contract) is issued work to complete
HHN – Home Hospital (schoolwork not complete): Attendance status is “HHN” when a Home Hospital student (who has a contract) is issued work to complete
S-Suspension: Student is suspended from school
Tardy:
T- Tardy less than 30 minutes without a valid reason
M- Tardy greater than 30 minutes without a valid reason
Other:
I- In-house Suspension: Student is suspended from class but remains on campus in another setting
