A no-show student is defined as a student who is enrolled in the school but has never attended classes. A student who has at least one day of attendance during the current school year would NOT be considered a no-show. Here are instructions for Exiting Students who are leaving NUSD to enroll elsewhere.
- Prior to the first day of school: Enter a work order before the first day of school to have the enrollment deleted. Starting the first day of school, enrollments will no longer be deleted.
- First day of school and beyond: Site staff will 1.) no-show the student (using the no-show instructions below) if the student does not attend at all or 2.) dis-enroll the student as of their last day of attendance, even if they attended for only one day.
Exiting Students – Procedures and Exit Codes
School staff must make every reasonable effort to find these students by contacting families directly to have the student return to school. Here are instructions for staff to take attendance and find absent students for the first week of school.
Important Notes about the No Show tool:
- Using this tool will preserve all of the student information in IC but remove the student from their scheduled classes and enrollment at the school.
- These efforts to contact families directly must be documented in the End Comments box, see example below.
Instructions for using the No Show tool:
1. Select the student in IC.
2. Navigate to the “General” tool under “Student Information” in the IC Index.
3. Select the “Schedule” tab and then click the “Print” icon on the next screen to print a copy of the student’s schedule. This paper copy should be filed in the student’s folder, it will be used to re-establish the student’s schedule if he/she should return to the district.
3. Select the “Enrollments” tab on the Student Information page:
4. Select the current enrollment of the “Enrollment Editor” tool:
5. On the “General Enrollment Information” box, there are five steps to take to properly no-show the student (see image below):

c) Select “N470 – No Show” for end status (exit reason).
