In an effort to provide clarity for the ongoing development of our Curriculum Alignment Guide, we have developed a FAQ. This will be updated regularly.

1. What is a CAG? |
The Curriculum Alignment Guide (CAG) is a living document. It will be updated at the end of each academic year. Summative and/or Formative Assessments and various support resources will be integrated throughout the year (i.e., UDL, rigor). The CAG will work towards establishing a common classroom experience aligned to standards and the frameworks throughout the district. |
2. How do I access the CAGs? |
The Curriculum Alignment Guide (CAG) is located on the Instructional Support Center (ISC) at https://staging.natomasunified.org/isc/. One can also unearth the Instructional Support Center (ISC) by logging onto the Natomas Unified School District Website, clicking the “staff” drop down menu, and clicking the ISC hyperlink. If you have not created a website, you will not have access to the ISC. To search for a specific CAG/YAG, we must:

3. How is the CAG different from the Textbook? |
A CAG varies from a textbook because it creates a common experience throughout the district and ensures that assessments are accessible to our students while meeting the standards, and aligned to state and district assessments. While the CAG is aligned to the Scope & Sequence of the district-adopted textbooks, the textbook is merely a resource with adjustable timelines. |
4. How will I, as a teacher, be assessed using the CAG? |
An administrator should be able to walk into a classroom, open the Year at a Glance (YAG) and the resource documents, and have a general understanding of current:
|
5. How can I provide Feedback and Updates to the CAG? |
A CAG Feedback Google Form will be created for all CAG users to provide feedback. The SLS Team will respond to the post within a timely manner. Smaller updates (such as grammatical errors) will be updated throughout the year. Larger, sometimes pedagogical updates, will be updated over the summer.
|
6. What is the difference between the YAG and Unit Overviews/Unit Resources? |
YAG is for both the principal and the teacher. The principal will use the YAG as a yearly calendar to unearth a general understanding of which standards the teacher will cover within a current lesson. Unit Overviews (Math) and Unit Resources (ELA) are ideally for the teacher as a resource for planning/executing units and gathering resources/assessment strategies. The Unit Overviews and Resources could also be used during formal evaluations as a resource and/or starting point for dialogue. |
