- If a student has not attended for 10 consecutive days, three (3) phone calls home to the parents or guardians must be attempted and documented. These phone calls should be completed on three different days within 7 school days of 10th consecutive day of absence.
- If contact is made with the parent or guardian, the student may not be dropped…unless (See #4)
- A student may be dropped by site if parent/guardian states that student should be dropped because he is enrolled at another school and this is verified by school personnel. Do not drop the student if this information cannot be verified and contact School Leadership and Support and Student Services and Safety at the Ed Center.
- If absences continue, a home visit by school or site personnel must be completed.Home visit should occur within two weeks of students’ tenth consecutive absence.
- If student is on an IEP, immediately contact the NUSD SPED Department. Do not drop the student at the site.
- If a student is absent for more than ten consecutive days, three phone calls have been attempted without contact and a home visit has been completed, the school may drop the student with a Student Exit Reason Code of E140 (No Known Enrollment Truant) and an Enrollment Exit Date reflecting the student’s last day of attendance.
