Chris Evans is in his fourth year in Natomas Unified as Superintendent. He is a proud father of three Natomas Unified students and a resident of the Natomas community. Superintendent Evans has strong Sacramento roots. All of his children were born in Sacramento and his wife of 17 years is from the Sacramento region as well. An alumnus of CSU Sacramento, he began his career more than 20 years ago as a classified employee before becoming a teacher, then a site administrator and district leader.
Since joining Natomas Unified, Mr. Evans has worked with the Board of Trustees and staff to take aggressive initial steps to implement a K-12 International Baccalaureate continuum and create pilot programs at schools such as Jefferson Elementary, Two Rivers Elementary and American Lakes Elementary that resulted in significant increases in student success. Successful elements of these pilots have been expanded to other district schools. During this same time Natomas Unified has taken steps to address the achievement gap, build early stages of a system for Social Emotional Support/Mental Health, implement district-wide accountability, and increase student enrollment. Additionally, under his leadership Natomas Unified has begun the implementation of the new Common Core State Standards and piloted a number of 21st century technology efforts to transition Natomas Unified into the modern digital age.
Prior to joining Natomas Unified, Superintendent Evans worked as the Associate Superintendent of School Leadership in Fresno Unified and is the proud former principal of Valley High School in Elk Grove Unified.
