Tobacco-Free Schools and Facilities

The Natomas Unified Board of Trustees recognizes that tobacco and nicotine products constitute a serious public health hazard and are inconsistent with district goals to provide a healthy environment for students and staff. All District property is tobacco-free. Prohibited products include cigarettes, cigars, smokeless tobacco, electronic cigarettes, electronic hookahs, and other vapor-emitting devices, with or without nicotine content, that mimic the use of tobacco products. NUSD’s policy does not ban the use of prescription products and other cessation aids, such as a nicotine patch or gum, that are federally approved for such use. More information is available in Board Policy 3513.3(a), which is available under Board information on the District website.
