During the November 18, 2020, Board meeting, the Natomas Unified School District Board of Trustees approved additional funding of $211,500 to extend the Center’s K-5 Day Camps from November 30 through December 18. As you may recall, the original funding was for The Center to run from August 27 through November 20. Last night’s approval by the Board allows families enrolled in The Center to continue receiving support up until the winter break.

The Day Camps have been made possible thanks to a $1million investment from the Board of Trustees, that was later supplemented by a $500,000 contribution from the City of Sacramento. These camps are located at all NUSD elementary sites and K-8 sites for families with students in grades K-5 who need support with their students during Distance Learning.

While it is currently unclear when NUSD will be able to begin the Transitional Learning Model, which includes an in-person instructional option, we wanted to provide families the extra time needed (6-weeks) to determine alternative childcare options for after winter break because we cannot make any guarantees about our ability to further extend these day camps beyond winter break. We currently are planning for school to resume in January, unless governmental guidance indicates otherwise.

For families that have applied for new enrollment in The Center, staff will be contacting them directly to assess their needs based on availability at the sites for the final 3 weeks of the program (November 30th – December 18th).
