Episode 1 of the Get Ready for the 2023-24 School Year Series is Now Available

With the upcoming school year just around the corner, we wanted to share some advice to help families get their students ready for the first day of the 2023-24 school year, August 10th. Sit back, relax, and enjoy part one of this special podcast by clicking here.

Part 1 is tailored for elementary school students. We spoke to Amanda Garcia, Early Learning Coordinator with our district for tips to getting early learners ready:

  1. Get back on schedule. Students have been enjoying the summer and with that comes different sleep patterns and habits. To transition back to the school schedule is to adjust your sleep schedule weeks before school starts. Set the alarm for when your student will wake up during the fall and start adapting now and go through a school dress rehearsal. Wake up, practice your morning routine by eating, brushing your teeth, and pick out the outfit of the day.
  2. Brand new student? Practice your route to school. Whether you’re walking, taking public transportation, or driving, take the path to get used to the commute.
  3. Attend events, such as Back to School nights. Check with your school to find out about events before school starts to learn about any new changes and possibly meet new friends.
  4. For a list of items and materials to bring – check your school’s Digital Backpack.
  5. Update your contact information! If you changed your phone number, email, or your student has specific health needs, please alert your school.
  6. Make sure you’re aware of your student’s school’s bell schedule.

For specific school information, please select your school from the list found on this webpage.

In part 2 of the podcast episode, we share tips for students entering middle and high school years.
