When students and staff return for the new school year, they will notice improvements and enhancements in support of modern, safe and engaging learning environments. It’s a commitment that the Natomas Unified School District has made to the community to provide the very best to our students. Here’s a snapshot of some the projects completed:
New Shade Structures and Outdoor Furniture at K-8 Campuses
Shade structures to help students stay cool during outdoor activities have been installed at the following NUSD campuses:
- Natomas Park Elementary
- Bannon Creek School
- Two Rivers Elementary
- Heron School
Additional outdoor furniture has been moved to the following sites:
- American Lakes
- Bannon Creek School
- H. Allen Hight Elementary
- Heron School
- Jefferson School
- Natomas Park Elementary
- Paso Verde School
- Two Rivers Elementary
- Witter Ranch Elementary
(This shade structure at Two Rivers Elementary is similar to the structures that will be installed at many of our K-8 campuses.)
Advanced Video Scoreboards Keep Sports Fans Engaged
New video scoreboards are now part of the sports fields at Inderkum and Natomas high schools.
Heredia-Arriaga School (HAS)
Our district’s new Spanish-English dual immersion school is ready for students in grades TK and Kindergarten.
Inderkum High School (IHS)
A new fence now surrounds the perimeter of the campus, as part of our ongoing commitment to keep students safe. Visitors can also expect to see a new decorative metal panel in the atrium and a new front office.
Leroy Greene Academy (LGA)
LGA now has an updated baseball/softball field with new foul ball poles and new fencing surrounding the perimeter of the field.
Natomas High School (NHS)
Modernization of baseball, softball and grass soccer fields continue. Crews have also installed a new bathroom, irrigation system, and removed the old well irrigation system. Construction is on track to be finished prior to the start of softball and baseball seasons.
Track and Field replacement and upgrade of padding beneath synthetic turf. The field is expected to be completed by the end of July 2023, while the track is anticipated to be completed by the end of August 2023.
Construction of the 10,000 square foot B. Teri Burns Health Clinic remains underway. The building will feature a 1,000 square foot classroom for the CTE Health Pathway. The facility is expected to be completed in the spring of 2024.
Natomas Middle School (NMS)
Crews are currently working to replace the NMS track and field. Once completed, the field will include upgraded padding beneath the synthetic turf.
Witter Ranch Elementary (WRE)
WRE’s library recently received an upgrade with new paint and carpet. In the coming weeks, new furniture will also adorn the space. The renovated library promises to provide students a comfortable and attractive room to read in.
